The Cat that Likes to Play With Light Switches

I have an 11 month old Russian Blue cross male cat named Lincoln.   He has learned what light switches are for, apparently from watching us. We had come home often to find various lights on in the house and were quite puzzled - thinking perhaps we had left them on.  Then one night I was sitting on the couch and the light went on in the bed room.  I snuck to the door in time to see him leap at the wall and flip the switch again.  Since that time he has found some of the most interesting times to turn the lights off on us.  His favorite time is when one of his humans is in the shower.  My husband will be having a shower after work when the light will suddenly go out and I hear "LINCOLN!!!!!!" coming from the bathroom.  I have taken pity on him and taken to turning the light back on for him.  Now I am a little worried about the speaker phone and the remote control.

The "Potato Head Milk Bone Dance"

A happy pet owner found a 6 month old female English Staffordshire Terrier on the streets. She was hungry and in need of a bath and lots of love... Well, when she finally settled in I decided one day to give her a Milk Bone. I dropped the bone on the floor when I was handing it to her (Her name is Potato Head) and she broke into a dance! It was like a crazy jig; then she grabbed the Milk Bone and tossed it up in the air and jumped for it. Needless to say, I was delighted. Now it is a daily routine that she and I do: The "Potato Head Milk Bone Dance".  She grunts after eating the bone like a pig! It seems everyday it is something new with her. We absolutely adore her.

Cat Tricks Owner

One of our more "regal" cats will "Meow" loudly at the foot of it's owners bed at 5:00 AM indicating that it needs to go out. When the owner gets up and goes to the patio door and slides it open "Kitty" takes one sniff of the outdoor air and then bee-lines it back to the bedroom. When the owner gets back to the bed she finds "Kitty" snuggled up on her warm spot!

Dog Likes Golf

Dr Dan seems to collect strange pets.  His new German Shepherd "Anna" is infatuated with fuzzy toys and tennis balls.  While working on the computer the other night, I heard this strange clicking of toe nails in the kitchen.   I rolled back and peeked in. "Anna" was batting a tennis ball with a long fuzzy toy and then going after it and batting it again.  She loves it and does it all the time now.

Ralph Hated Canes

Another favorite pet of Dr Dan's who passed away last December, hated canes.  I used to take the arm off the wheel chair and tap it near "Ralph's" bones and other favorite toys.  He'd get mad and go after it ferociously.  After years of this training, one day an elderly lady came in the clinic bearing, God forbid, a cane. As she tapped it on the floor "Ralph" let out a low growl.  She told us, "I guess the little feller doesn't like the cane".  We just laughed.  Ralph was a cool dog with definite "Terrier" instincts.

Cat Travels Back from Michigan

We've all heard tales of animals traveling 100's of miles, well it's true!   A few years ago, I had a client who moved from Marietta to somewhere in upstate Michigan. Soon after arriving in Michigan their cat disappeared.  About six weeks later,  their former neighbor in Marietta contacted them and told them their cat was back on the porch of their old house in Marietta.  The owners decided that if the cat liked Marietta that well it could live with their former neighbor who gladly adopted it.
