"Working at a veterinary hospital can be rather chaotic, heartbreaking and breathtaking at times..."

I've worked at Woodside Veterinary Hospital since 1998. I had just graduated from high school and my Mom, "Kat" (the boss), called me from work and asked if I would be interested in a part-time job doing kennels. It was like a dream come true. Now I work here full time and have learned everything from how to properly clean kennels to helping with radiographs, clipping and bathing dogs, proper animal restraint and so much more. Though working at a veterinary hospital can be rather chaotic, heartbreaking and breathtaking at times, it has to be the best job on earth. If you get stressed, just go hug a "fur person".

Although both Mom and Dad love animals, I can mostly blame my Mom for making me always want animals in my life. We have had animals for as long as I can remember. With Mom working at a veterinary hospital since 1985, she has brought many animals home for my sister and I to help with the care of. We raised two puppies and one kitten, on a bottle. We nursed several birds back to health and released them. She also brought three adult cats, a black and tan coonhound and a boxer home for our care.

I have several animals of my own. I have 7 cats. The first is a Himalayan mix that I adopted from my sister-in-law. Next, in a moment of insanity, I decided to adopt six 10-day-old kittens that had lost their mom. I still have five of them (found a home for one). Also we have an outside cat that adopted me and I couldn't turn it away. When I got married my husband had a beagle. Now we also have a Yellow Black Mouth Cur (couch potato) that I bought for my husband for squirrel hunting; One saltwater and one freshwater aquarium, and a guinea pig. My husband also loves animals. We are hoping that someday we will own a farm and have room for large animals.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my animals, watching NASCAR, fishing, reading, camping, and horseback riding. I have recently learned how to crochet and cross stitch for fun during the winter months.
